Success Story – Business is Booming
Angie Rowell – Image Consultant of the Month
When you watch the first few minutes of the Advanced Colour Analysis DVD, you’ll hear Angie Rowell say that she’s hopeless at keeping customers. She reckoned she was ok at finding them, just not very good at keeping them.
Does this sound at all like you?
Angie originally trained with me in Colour Analysis 3 years ago and came back for the Ladies’ Style course a year later so it was great to see her again for Advanced Colour in March.
She’s such a generous person – every single time she comes to visit, she brings me a dozen of her finest eggs from her smallholding in Lincolnshire, and Neil and I always spend the next few days happily devouring scrummy omelettes, fried eggs and bacon, and, my personal favourite, boiled eggs and soldiers.
I just love her gentle spirit and she is a truly compassionate person – something I can only aspire to. Here’s Angie with me at the end of fabulous day of learning and sharing, receiving her Advanced Colour Analysis diploma.
On the Advanced Colour day itself, Angie had one or two lightbulb moments when she realised that she wasn’t the only one who’d been feeling less than successful. When you watch the DVDs, you’ll enjoy those moments just as much as we did on the event.
We started the day with ‘What are the issues that are holding you back’ and virtually all 10 consultants in the room realised that their issues were just the same as everyone else’s. It happens to all of us – I’ve been there myself on so many occasions. We lose our confidence so we stop taking bookings. We get out of practice, we don’t build up any useful experience, and our confidence level just goes even further down the tubes. It’s a vicious circle.
Of course we all get side-tracked from time to time but it’s how you deal with what life throws at you that makes you successful – or not. And this story is about how Angie took the bull by the horns and just got on with it.
Angie’s main question at the beginning of the day was: “What constitutes a good advert for my business? I have done a lot of advertising but none of it is spectacularly bringing in new clients. I know word-of-mouth is important but there are millions of women out there badly in need of having their colours done! How can I reel them in?”
You can find out just how we answered this question and many more in the DVDs themselves but I mention this here particularly because Angie refers to it in her rather excited email below, sent just a few short weeks after the Advanced Colour day:
Business is booming
Just wanted to let you know that I did my first colour analysis for several months on Friday. Gosh! Was it rewarding? It was amazing. What I thought was just going to be a really nice lady interested in colours coming for her analysis took an unexpected turn, right at the end! And I thought, Kim was so right…..
I finished the consultation and we were just chatting happily and right out of the blue my lady said, “I don’t think I am important at all really. As long as my children and hubby are ok everything will be fine….” She then promptly burst into tears!
The poor lady just poured out her heart to me. She had no time for herself. Her two-year old was a nightmare! She never wore make up. She just wet her hair and tied it back to keep neat. She had to wash in the downstairs cloakroom in the mornings just to keep her youngest out of mischief. She only wore jeans and either beige or brown…. She dashed around all day after her children. Her only consolation was that her husband did help when he could, but he worked nights, so that wasn’t often… and so it went on!
After handing out the tissues and reminding her how fabulous she looked in all her new colours and convincing her that she WAS special, she began to cheer up.
We discussed her long-planned shopping trip for pretty skirts and tops in just 2 new colours to begin with (she was a Deep Winter by the way) and I convinced her that she and her husband should take some time out together without said children.
Wow, was I emotionally drained when she left? But so exhilarated.
And I felt better too! I had done something so worthwhile and my satisfaction level was off the scale! I just want to go on and on doing this job!
Now I await with some trepidation my newest venture. My first Colour Party on Wednesday evening. The script is planned, activities sorted (with some wonderful help and advice from Andrea who was on the Advanced Colour Analysis day with me. Isn’t she great?) and I’m raring to go…
I am not charging at the moment for parties but am hoping to sell tonal wallets and lipsticks. I am thinking that I should make some sort of charge when I’ve done a couple successfully. I’ll have special offers at the ready for Colour Analysis consultations too!
Just think Kim, this is all thanks to you…
I plan to keep on with the marketing and definitely no expensive adverts!
I am looking forward to receiving the Advanced Colour Analysis course notes and DVDs and expect to be motivated all over again!
Thanks for being So inspirational Kim. Angie
This is my reply:
“Angie, This is utterly splendid news, and so inspiring. Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to let me know. And please start attributing your success to YOU. I provide the information and motivation nicely packaged with a kick up the proverbial but it’s YOU who decides whether to do anything about it.
“The majority do nothing and then whinge about their lack of success to anyone daft enough to listen, always blaming anyone else but themselves.
“You have taken full responsibility for your actions, taken that step forward, had a go, and ended up with a magnificent triumph which has been so rewarding for both you and your client. Very well done indeed! I shall be quoting your story in my next newsletter as it’s sure to inspire others to stop procrastinating and get out there and change some lives. Kim”
Angie then sent this email: “My first colour party last night was also a rip roaring success. So a pat on the back for ME!” Angie
What a little star. And now Angie is attributing her success to her own hard work. An even better success story.
